It has been a while since I've even looked at my blog! The new school year is well under way. I'm very thankful for the half day today on Halloween!
This year has brought us a new Phonics curriculum, new MAISA Reading Workshop method, and new literacy coaches! I'm very thankful for our coach!!! We have spent many hours planning and visiting in order to do a better job!
Teaching! It's What I Do!
Teaching third grade is one of the most rewarding things I do. I also have the blessing of being a wife and a mom.

Regular Routine?
Is it possible for an elementary teacher to have a regular routine? We're starting our third week of school and are hoping to have some sort of routine. We've already jumped ahead of our usual schedule with our third graders. Much of our placement/baseline testing is completed (DE Math test this week). We've already built stamina for Daily 5 and BUILD (our math workshop). Class sizes are down from last year and that is a HUGE blessing! 45 in our combined class is so much more manageable than 55 or 56! Best thing...learning is already happening!

Still Time For Summer Fun!
It's almost that time again! Soon the families will be coming to "Meet the Teacher" night! Kids are out selecting their school supplies. Principals and secretaries are heading back to work. Teachers are getting their rooms ready. We'll be back in the routine before we know it! HOWEVER, this teacher still has time to enjoy summer. I'll have my "adult" children with me and my husband when we travel to the Outer Banks! I'm so excited! Then it will be time to think about "Back to School"! Until then, ocean beaches, here we come!
